High Pointe Church

Values & Beliefs

Our mission

We are disciples who make disciples by engaging culture with the saving message of Jesus where we live, work, learn, and play.

Our Vision

Real Friends. Real Life. Real Faith.

Because of Jesus, We:

LOVE ALL PEOPLE.

ARE LED BY THE SPIRIT.

DO WHAT IT TAKES

LIVE IN COMMUNITY.

EXPECT GROWTH.

At the High Pointe Church, our desire is to embrace the grace and truth brought through Jesus Christ.  We humbly acknowledge that we are all sinners, each of us in need of God’s mercy and forgiveness. Our brokenness brings us together as we strive to live into His truth revealed in scripture. It is our deep desire to be a welcoming and compassionate community, where everyone is embraced with kindness and grace, regardless of where they are on their journey.

Our Beliefs

There is only one true God. He is the Creator of all life and the Supreme Ruler of the universe. He has always been (He is eternal) and has revealed himself in three Persons: God the Father (our Creator), God the Son (Jesus, our Savior), and God the Holy Spirit (our Guide). We learn about God through His creation, His Word, and His Son.

Scriptures

Genesis 1:26-27Deuteronomy 6:4Job 38:1-41:34Matthew 3:13-17John 3:16Romans 1:19-202 Corinthians 13:14Ephesians 4:6

Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God. He came to earth and was completely God while at the same time being fully man. He revealed to us who God is. His miraculous acts, sinless life, and life-changing teachings all confirm the fact that He is God’s Son. His purpose for coming to Earth was to show God’s love by dying on a cross, thus taking the sins of all mankind upon Himself, and paying the penalty that our sins deserve. His bodily resurrection from the grave and His promise to return someday are the basis of our hope and faith.

Scriptures

Matthew 1:22-23John 1:1,14,18Acts 10:37-431 Corinthians 15:3-4Philippians 2:5-11Colossians 1:15-21Hebrews 1:1-3

The Holy Spirit dwells in each member of God’s family as a Helper and Guide. It is through the work of the Holy Spirit that a person comes to salvation. At the point of salvation, the Holy Spirit comes to live in our physical bodies as His home and He begins the work of making us holy. Though we will never be sinless in this life the Holy Spirit does help us sin less as we conform more to the image of Christ. The works of the flesh begin to fade, and the fruit of the Spirit begins to appear as we allow God’s spirit to lead us on a daily basis.

Scriptures

John 14:16-17John 16:7-13Acts 2:381 Corinthians 6:19-20Ephesians 3:16-20Ephesians 5:182 Corinthians 3:18Galatians 5:19-25Romans 8:13,14

We are created in the spiritual likeness or image of God. We believe that though we are born good, each of us reaches an age where we knowingly sin (violate God’s will), separating us from God and each other.  Thus, we need a Savior to bring us back in right relationship with Him!

Scriptures

Genesis 1:27Genesis 3:1-24Psalm 8:3-6John 4:24Ephesians 1:4-6Romans 3:23

The Church is not a building or one particular group of believers. To belong to the Church, is to belong to Jesus. We believe that when a person is saved, God places him or her into the church and he or she becomes a part of Christ’s body.  God’s will is for the Church to gather regularly to worship him, encourage fellow believers, and to use their gifts and abilities to serve others. The Church or body is to seek to do the will of God, which includes making and growing followers of Jesus Christ.

Scriptures

Matthew 16:15-18John 17:20-23John 13:34-35Acts 2:42-471 Corinthians 12:12-27Ephesians 1:22-23Ephesians 2:19-221 Peter 2:4-10

We need salvation because we have sinned.  Sin separates us from God who desires relationship with Him.  We believe that God so loved the world that he sent his Son to die for us.  Through his death and resurrection, Christ defeated sin and death, making our salvation possible.  This salvation is by grace (the free gift of God) and is received through faith (trust) in Christ Jesus. When we decide that we will follow Jesus for the rest of our lives, we demonstrate our trust in Jesus by obeying His command to be baptized (immersed in water) symbolizing the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.

Scriptures

Isaiah 59:2John 3:16John 14:6Acts 2:37-39Romans 3:101123Romans 6:3-4Romans 6:231 Corinthians 15:1-4Ephesians 2:1-10Titus 3:3-81 Peter 3:21

The Bible is God’s written Word. The Word of God is without error and is truth. It tells us who God is, why He loves us, and what His plans are for us. The Bible is the authority or standard for living our lives according to God’s will for us.

Scriptures

Psalm 19:7-11Psalm 119:105160John 17:171 Thessalonians 2:132 Timothy 3:16-172 Peter 1:20-21

We believe that there is a heaven and a hell, and that Jesus will return again to judge the living and the dead.  Those who choose to follow Jesus as Lord, and have a growing relationship with Him, will spend eternity with God in Heaven. Those who reject Jesus by refusing to follow Him will spend eternity in Hell.

Scriptures

Ezekiel 18:20Matthew 7:21-23Matthew 10:28Matthew 25:31-46Luke 16:19-31John 14:1-6Romans 6:23Philippians 3:17-21Revelation 20:15

As followers of Jesus, we are called to follow His example and to do the things He asks of us including being baptized. In baptism we symbolically participate in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus and pledge our lives to him.

Scriptures

Matthew 3:13-17Matthew 28:18-20Mark 16:15-161 Peter 3:21

Our Story

For more than 100 years, God has led the High Pointe Family on a remarkable journey. Founded in 1917, a few families began gathering as a Body of Christ with the intent of making a difference in the community around them.

From the earliest days, God gave our church a vision of reaching Collin County for Christ, and God is still calling High Pointe toward that vision. We envision a community of Christ-followers courageously engaging culture with the hope of Jesus where we live, learn, and work.

The invitation from Jesus to follow him is an invitation to discover the purpose for which we’ve been created. We want everyone to share the hope we have found in Christ.

Our prayer is that you will join us on this journey of faith as we set our sights on helping others to GROW in their relationship with God, CONNECT in an authentic community, and SERVE others with their passions and gifts.
